0x01 / How it works

Your space reports.
We let you know.

Many hackspaces publish their status as a small JSON file following the open SpaceAPI standard. That is all it takes:

At the last build of this site, 54 of 205 spaces in the SpaceAPI directory were open.

  1. 0x00

    The space publishes.

    Its endpoint says: open, closed or nothing at all.

  2. 0x01

    SpacePush checks.

    The server looks every minute and only reports changes that stick.

  3. 0x02

    Your phone tells you.

    Turn on push for your space, done. When it opens, you hear about it.

We pass on what your space reports. Checking and pushing take a little moment. If you still end up at a locked door: sorry about that. A quick hello in your space’s chat often helps, maybe someone is still nearby.

What the app sends
